BW Fleet Management

We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations, both onshore and at sea.

BW Fleet Management has been awarded ISO 14001 certification for our entire managed fleet of tankers and bulk carriers. ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised certificate which indicates that a company has procedures in place to mitigate its environmental impact.

BW Fleet Management is also one of the first companies to have committed vessels in its newbuilding fleet to the auditing regime required for obtaining the Green Passport. The Green Passport, as laid out in the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Guidelines on Ship Recycling, is a document which contains an inventory of all the materials onboard a ship which may be hazardous to human health or to the environment which should accompany the ship throughout its operational life. When a ship comes to the end of its operational life, the Green Passport can be used by the ship recycling yard to dismantle the ship in an environmentally friendly manner.

BW Fleet Management's ongoing fleet planning encompasses all environmental aspects of ship operation. Lloyd's Register, a marine risk management organisation, has approved BW Shipping's ballast water management plans for the entire fleet in accordance with IMO requirements and awarded us its Ballast Water Management Plan Descriptive Note.
